Seeing 20/20 with our new Vision Statement!

The first Ministry Action Plan as we have moved forward in the Fruitful Congregation Journey was for us to develop a vision statement. A vision statement is meant to help guide a person/organization reach their goal. In the case of our church, our goal (mission) is “To make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.”

Our vision team spent much time in prayer, study, and discussion in trying to discern God’s direction for us as a church. The result of this time spent together has been approved by the Administrative Council as what will guide each committee and ministry here at Sullivan First. I (Pastor Ben) feel that it ties together one of our core values (hospitality) alongside what we are called to do – reach out to the community around us. This tieing together of what we are currently along with what God is constantly calling us to improve and grow in should help us to fulfill the mission of discipleship making. So, without further ado, our mission statement!

“Sullivan First is United in Ministry within the Community through Growth in Christ and Radical Hospitality”

May this be how we move forward – in such a way that we are reaching out to the community, which we are in the center of, while continuing to grow in our own discipleship and extending hospitality to all! Let us keep Community, Christ, and Hospitality as the focus of everything we do here at Sullivan First United Methodist Church!
